About Allendale Telephone Service

Allendale Communications is an independent telephone company which began in 1910. We are licensed by the Michigan Public Service Commission and provide Basic Telephone Service in Allendale Township and in parts of Polkton Township including the City of Coopersville. A Service Area Map outlines the service area boundaries and can be viewed by clicking here.

Digital switching equipment and fiber optic cable are used for most of the “local loops” throughout our service area. As the industry changes, we remain committed to providing the same technologies to our rural customers as customers in big, metropolitan areas enjoy. Dial-up Internet Access, ISDN and DSL are just a few of the technologies to have emerged over the last 5-6 years and which Allendale Telephone made available, and continues to provide to our customers. Both Allendale Township and the City of Coopersville are home to a commercial and industrial park, each of which is served by our fiber optic network.

During the year 2001, Allendale Telephone Company was purchased by a group of other Independent Telephone companies. These companies also provide communication services in several communities throughout the mid-west. Representatives from these companies now serve on our Board of Directors, which is very committed to continued growth and advancing our technology.

Residential and Business customers enjoy the latest technology available in the telephone industry combined with local, personal service. Our offices are conveniently located in Allendale and Coopersville. All of our customer service representatives live and work in the community and all service technicians are dispatched directly from our local offices.

The Local Calling Area for Allendale Communication’s customers is one of the largest in the State of Michigan. Under the new board’s direction this area was expanded to include most of Kent and Ottawa Counties (See map).

In 2003, Allendale Telephone Company changed its name to Allendale Communications and also began offering our own long distance service.
